City centre warms up for sporting challenge

Aberdeen city centre is preparing to host its second major sporting event this summer.

In May, Union Street was the site of the start/finish line for cycling’s Tour Series.

On Sunday August 26th it will provide a similar stage for the Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run, which returns for a second year.

The route will take runners past landmark buildings like Marischal College and His Majesty’s Theatre as well as visiting the award-winning Seaton Park to the north of the city.

The half-marathon is being delivered by Aberdeen City Council, VisitAberdeenshire, Aberdeen Inspired, Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce and The Great Run Company.

Places are still available for the event (which includes a 10k and Family Run). To enter, click here.
