This Sunday thousands of runners will line up for Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run, which is being delivered as part of the Aberdeen 365 events strategy.
Thousands more will cheer them on – with the city centre providing a stunning backdrop for the August 26 event.
The half marathon and 10k start on Union Street before heading to Aberdeen Harbour, the beach Esplanade and across the Bridge of Don and the historic Brig o’ Balgownie.
This year, for the first-time, the route for the half marathon heads through a new section of the award-winning Seaton Park.
It will return to Union Street passing iconic landmarks, including Marischal College and His Majesty’s Theatre.
Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Jenny Laing said: “Through our City Centre Masterplan Aberdeen City Council is committed to making Aberdeen an even more vibrant place to live, work and visit – and a year-round events programme is integral to that.
“The Great Aberdeen Run is a key event in our city events programme and with thousands of runners participating in the races we want to show them as much of our city as we can.
“There’s so much to see and do and August 26 will be a great platform for the city.”
The Great Aberdeen Run – which includes a family run – is delivered in partnership by Aberdeen City Council, VisitAberdeenshire, Aberdeen Inspired, Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce and is being supported by the Aberdeen City Centre Masterplan.
