Aberdeen Football Club fans are being invited to create a “red wave” at the Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run, which features a 10k and half marathon.
Supporters who sign up for the August 25 event — for runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities — will be receive training advice from backroom staff.
The club logo will appear on their run number and they will be sent on their way by some of the club’s legendary figures.
Dons manager Derek McInnes said, “This is a great initiative and we would love to see supporters, with our encouragement, train for the event and join us on the day.”
Rob Hedderman, manager of the Aberdeen FC Community Trust, said: “This is a great opportunity for Aberdeen FC to do something special in the community and of course I hope supporters will look to raise money for our Trust.”
The Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run is staged by the organisers of the Simplyhealth Great North Run, the world’s biggest half marathon.
It is delivered in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, VisitAberdeenshire, Aberdeen Inspired, Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce and is supported by the Aberdeen City Centre Masterplan.
