Aberdeen is one of the world’s top five energy cities but the innovation and enterprise isn’t confined to oil and gas. The region is home to pioneering companies in green energy, bio-pharmaceuticals, property, and the creative industries.
It has the lowest level of unemployment in Scotland and the highest concentration of millionaires in the UK. More than a quarter of Scotland’s top 100 businesses are located here and GVA sits at over £18 billion, 15% of the country’s total.
Marsichal Square combines offices, a 4-star Residence Inn by Marriott, places to eat and drink, and public realm.
Queen’s Square [identified as an intervention area] is envisaged as a residential-led mixed use urban quarter and an exemplar of the best of urban living in a sensitive historic context. The project has a GDV of £150m. Key CCMP projects related to this include Queen Street and Broad Street.
