Work on Broad Street, one of four major transport projects in the Masterplan, will transform the streetscape to create an area with interest, vibrancy and vitality.
The space, which will be buses-only for traffic and a shared footway for pedestrians and cyclists, is suitable for a range of events that can be programmed throughout the year.
The design includes a water feature, trees, benches, and a raised grass area to provide views of Marischal College, which will have new lighting.
Funding for the project has come from Aberdeen City Council, developer Muse, and Sustrans Scotland.
