Justice Mill/Langstane/Windmill

Project EN03 describes Langstane Place/Justice Mill Lane/Windmill Brae – which runs parallel to Union Street – as a “key area for evening economy activities”.

The Masterplan said it could “be enhanced as a pedestrian priority area with new cycle routes, improved streetscape and lighting”.

Aberdeen City Council has agreed in principle to proposals, which will be progressed using Traffic Regulation Orders subject to further consultation, to ban traffic from some sections between 10pm and 5am.

A report is to be brought back to Council in September 2018 when it will also consider the latest data on footfall and vehicle movements in the area.

A separate creative lighting scheme, which would see custom-made lamps suspended above a section of Langstane Place, is being taken forward by Aberdeen Inspired with support from Aberdeen Inspired as part of Aberdeen in Colour.
